Csontváry: Levante is a joint film by the House of Music Hungary and Budapest Airport, in which twelve paintings by Tivadar Csontváry Kosztka are brought to life to the accompaniment of eight musical pieces, giving a taste of the artist’s unique style of representation, reports Turizmus.com.
Budapest Airport, in cooperation with the Hungarian House of Music and Brain Bar, has prepared a very special show for the festival. In the Sound Dome on the second floor of the House of Music Hungary,
a special visual and musical journey will take the audience on a journey from the Bay of Naples, through Greece and Jerusalem, to Lebanon, with the help of twelve animated Csontváry paintings.
The film also captivates the viewer with an unprecedented intensity thanks to the location’s unique features – 32 channels of sound and 360-degree visuals.
The paintings were adapted and animated by Nikolett Németh, the sound design was the work of Ádám Kalamár and Ákos Lovász, and the music was composed by Melinda Erdőháti, the film’s artistic director.
Tivadar Csontváry Kosztka was not only a brilliant painter, but also a great traveler, his works brought landscapes closer to people, that we all long to discover,”
said Katalin Valentínyi, Deputy Director General for Communications and Government Relations of Budapest Airport, the project’s sponsor.
“Csontváry: Levante” will be on view for a year at the House of Music Hungary.
The same exhibition is now open in Pécs, southern Hungary. It includes Csontváry’s famous “Self-Portrait,” “The Lonely Cedar,” “Ruins of the Ancient Greek Theater at Taormina,” and his painting, “Valley of Great Tarpatak in the High-Tatras,” as well as “Pilgrimage to the Cedars in Lebanon.”
