This year, Europe’s biggest festival on the topic of the future will focus on the balance between body and soul, the global crisis of mental health, and will open a debate on Hungarian social issues such as the need for battery production. Brain Bar, taking place on 21-22 September at the House of Music Hungary, will feature more than 120 speakers and 100 program elements.
As Magyar Nemzet writes, on the first day, sleep researcher Dr. Sophie Bostock will help find solutions to the sleep problems that now affect almost all of us. She will explain how quality sleep, or lack of it, affects our daily performance and psyche.
World-renowned New York-based psychotherapist and bestselling author Esther Perel, one of the most unique minds in modern human relationships and couples, is making her first appearance in our country.
She will talk about how a society can preserve a healthy psyche and what we can do about the epidemic of loneliness sweeping our world.
Perel’s presentation will be preceded by a conversation between psychologist Dr. Máté Szondy, Zsófia Dombi, who holds a PhD in psychiatry from Oxford, and singer Solére, who will seek answers to what is happening in the inner world of Generation Z, hidden from almost all of us.
The organizers particularly recommend the block of two programs to mental health professionals, as they bring mental health into the discourse at a unique level.
Christine Flaspohler will also be at the festival, where she and her team are designing the suitcases that NASA astronauts will wear during the next moon landing. Visitors can also meet Dutch designer Anouk Wipprecht, who creates mind-controlled, robotic costumes – including for the Super Bowl and Cirque de Soleil. She will showcase her creations that move, breathe, and even react to their environment.
The festival also addresses the most important issues affecting Hungary.
The first public debate on battery factories will take place on the second day of the festival,
with Péter Ungár, leader of the LMP parliamentary group, publicist-comedian Zoltán Czeglédi, Olivér Hortay from political Századvég Foundation, and car market expert Gábor Várkonyi.
Mátyás Esterházy, manager of Dominik Szoboszlai, will talk about what young people planning their own careers, members of Generation Z, can learn from the extraordinary story of the football talent who signed for Liverpool.
Furthermore, there will be many amazing shows at Brain Bar: among others, magician-illusionist Balázs Kiss V. will perform.
Among the hosts is Márko Linczényi, a great favorite of Hungarian podcast culture. Furthermore, Iain Lindsay, former British Ambassador to Budapest, will also be at the festival, and stand-up comedian Sid Moorthy will host the talks for the fourth time.
The full program of Europe’s biggest festival on the future and tickets are available on the organizers’ website. The Brain Bar is free for students and teachers who register.
