Budapest’s Ferencváros and Hungarian footballer Dominik Szoboszlai’s club are among the top teams in the latest world rankings compiled by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS). Manchester City won first place in the ranking, taking over from Real Madrid, reports Világgazdaság.
Hungarian champions Ferencváros were the only Hungarian team to be included in the ranking, but unfortunately they did not make it into the top 100, finishing 117th.
It is worth noting, however, that the Budapest club moved up 28 places in the rankings, from 145th.
This is not the only Hungarian interest in the illustrious list. Dominik Szoboszlai, captain of the Hungarian national team, joined English side Liverpool in the summer. The Premier League club was ranked 37th in the list, which is five places down compared to the previous ranking.
The top of the IFFHS list has changed as well after four months. Real Madrid have lost their first place, leaving former runners-up Manchester City as the top football team. Clubs from 35 countries are in the top 100, including 11 Brazilian, 7 Argentinian, 7 English, 7 German, 7 Italian, 7 Spanish, and 6 French teams.
