About half of the more than HUF 112 billion (EUR 290 million) in government support will be spent on economic zones in Debrecen (eastern Hungary). BMW and the Chinese electric battery manufacturer, Eve Power, are also coming to the city, reports Világgazdaság.
Almost HUF 112.2 billion (EUR 286 million) of government aid is coming to Debrecen, including a significant amount for road network development, preparation, and planning, and other economic investments. Of this, some HUF 60 billion (EUR 152.7 million) will be spent over the next three years on infrastructure development of the Southern Economic Zone and the North-Western Economic Zone, a local news site reported.
A total of HUF 31.7 billion (EUR 80,8 million) will be spent on the development of the Southern Economic Zone. Within this framework,
a 16-kilometer road network with infrastructure will be fully completed, and the development of SME (small and medium-sized enterprises) parks I, II, and III of the Southern Economic Belt will be finalized, as well as the improvement of utilities and infrastructure for the enterprises.
Almost HUF 1.5 billion (EUR 3.8 million) will be allocated to the development of the gas network.
The North-West Economic Zone will receive around HUF 30 billion (EUR 76.5 million). The Debrecen Logistics Center will be built in this area with around HUF 4.625 billion (EUR 11,8 million) of government support, including the construction of the National Tax and Customs Administration office building.
This center will serve the BMW plant in Debrecen.
In addition, a further HUF 24.1 billion (EUR 61,5 million) will be spent on upgrading the industrial park’s electricity network, as further upgrades are needed to meet the project needs of Eve Power, which will be located in the 100-hectare supplier park. The additional capacity will be built in two phases.
