After five weeks of training, the 17th shift of the Hungarian Defense Forces Iraqi Training and Assurance Contingent (MH IKBK) participated in a final exercise at the Training Area Command base in Újdörögd. During the final exercise, the readiness and proficiency of the 17th relay in the tasks encountered in the operational area were tested.
The exercise of the 17th shift was attended by contract, professional and volunteer soldiers. “The five-week training period ends with a two-day final exercise to measure the readiness of the personnel,” said Lieutenant Colonel Zoltán Vass, commander of the next shift of the IKBK. He added that the planned personnel have prepared and practiced the physical, protection, personal protection and escort tasks that they will perform in the mission, reported Honvedelem.hu.
Reserve Sergeant Major Tamás Gábe had overseen the final exercise. He said that the basic training for reservists in 2021 is complete and sees the mission in Iraq as a big challenge. He feels it is a great opportunity to develop and learn new tasks as the mission not only gives the troops experience, but also gives them an added advantage, because the Iraq mission counts for a lot in terms of professionalism.
“During the five weeks, the team has successfully bonded and we have completed the specific tasks expected of us. I think we are ready for the Iraqi tasks,” concluded Tamás Gábe.
