The Authority for the Supervision of Regulated Activities, in cooperation with banks, will block bank accounts linked to illegal gambling, and from July will restrict deposits and payments related to unlicensed gambling sites.
In a statement made by the authority, they emphasized that from July, Hungarian banks will also refuse credit card payments to illegal gambling sites.
It was stressed that
following the restrictions, the payment of winnings from unlicensed sites will also become uncertain.
For these reasons, it is recommended that players check on the website of the Authority for the Supervision of Regulated Activities whether the site is licensed, as this is the only way to ensure that players will receive their winnings and that their personal and banking data will not be misused.
Illegal online gambling sites not only fail to comply with the strict Hungarian regulations protecting minors and vulnerable groups, but also that which ensure the protection of players’ personal and banking data.”
The authority, which supervises the gambling sector, also prioritizes the protection of players online. To this end, they continuously monitor illegal online gambling, and on the basis of their findings, impose fines and block the websites concerned, their statement concluded.
