On Monday, President of the Republic, Katalin Novák, traveled to Nógrád County in northern Hungary, during which she met with county leaders and members of parliament in Alsópetény. In addition, the President announced that her office, the Sándor Palace, has moved to the countryside for the time being, with even diplomatic meetings taking place there, adding that she will also make official decisions while there.
In an unusual way, the Head of State received the ambassadors and heads of mission of Arab countries accredited to Hungary in Alsópetény, indicating that not only Budapest, but also rural settlements can host such activities of diplomacy. The meeting focused on the development of economic relations, energy security, and demographic issues.
Novák also traveled to Balassagyarmat, visiting, among other places, the Reménysugár Children’s Home, where children who are temporarily or permanently away from their parents are cared for. She also visited the Cserhát Special Rescue Group where she watched a dog demonstration.
During the day, the president also met kindergarten children, and visited Szécsény, where she saw the work of the county’s only mill.
Nógrád is the fifth county visited by the president, with the previous location being Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county. Since the start of her countrywide tour, Novák has also visited Somogy, Komárom-Esztergom, and Győr-Moson-Sopron counties.
