Theater Olympics to Close with an Evening of Art

The 10th Theater Olympics will close on Saturday with an evening of comprehensive art and a program for Midsummer’s Eve at the Margaret Island Theater, MTI reported on Wednesday.

The dance piece based on Béla Bartók’s The Miraculous Mandarin and Ravel’s Bolero will be accompanied by four-hand piano music on the Main Stage of Margaret Island. Béla Bartók’s piece will be accompanied by pianists Gergely Bogányi and Misi Boros, and Bolero by Károly Binder and Gábor Varga, the organizers said in a statement on Wednesday.

The all-artistic production will be staged by InterEUropa Ballet, Sopron Ballet, and Forrás Produkció in a unique performance with an international cast. The dance works are choreographed by Michael Kropf, directed by András Pataki and performed by a number of internationally renowned dance artists.

The stage performances will be followed by a special Midsummer Night’s Eve Comprehensive Art program with light painting in the trees of Margaret Island around the open-air stage.

The Teatro Potlach’s performance is the closing event of the Theater Olympics and is a collaboration with Aesop Studio, the Italian Quiet Ensemble, the Budapest Circus, the Budapest Puppet Theater, the Music Academy, the Hungarian National Dance Ensemble, the Gyula Sárközi Company, and the Madách Dance School.

The Teatro Potlach in Italy has been a researcher and innovator in theater arts for some fifty years. Founded by Pino Di Buduo, the company has built a worldwide reputation for its intercultural and multimedia performances. Potlach’s history dates back to the avant-garde theater of Rome, and its interests have always been focused on research and experimentation.
