Through Hungarian Eyes – Exhibition of Photo and Drawing Competition

Hungary Today 2023.06.21.

Following last year’s huge success, the State Secretariat for National Policy of the Prime Minister’s Office has held the popular photo competition entitled Magyar szemmel (Through Hungarian Eyes) again this year. The three themes this time around were motherland, mother tongue and mother heart.

First prize winner in the Mother Earth category: Katalin Borbáth’s photo entitled Úzvölgye (Valea Uzului)

This year the organizers also launched a drawing competition for under-14’s. As kulhonimagyarok.hu reports, 2023 is the “Year of the Caring Nation” in national politics.

“We care when we look out for, help, support, love and accept others.

In the past, the members of the Hungarian nation have shown, through their actions, that they can count on each other. It is particularly valuable for us that everyone in their own homes, in their immediate and wider environment, care for those entrusted to their care with active love.”

This year’s appeal focused on one of our most beautiful Hungarian words, “ANYA” (mom), the portal adds. “We were looking for photos of our applicants aged 14 and over on these three themes, as well as drawings by children under 14 from the Carpathian Basin and the Diaspora on the theme of the mother heart.”

The opening ceremony of the Hungarian Eyes photo exhibition will be held on Thursday, 22 June at the Várkert Bazaar in Buda Castle, where the best of the 2,000 entries received, the category winners selected by the jury and the best public prize-winning photos will be showcased.

János Árpád Potápi, Minister of State for National Policy of the Prime Minister’s Office is expected to give a speech at the opening ceremony.
