This year, a holiday at Lake Balaton will not be cheap: a family of four traveling to Keszthely for a single day can cost up to HUF 52000 (EUR 139). Besides the cost of food and drinks, parking fees and beach tickets are also more expensive, Index reports.
Whether a family of four travels from Budapest, Szeged or Pécs, the price of the journey can be three times as much by train than by car.
Beach tickets have also become more expensive with fees rising by 500 (EUR 1,3) or even doubling, for example at Napsugár Beach in Tihany. Good news is that in Keszthely adults only have to pay HUF 100 (EUR 0,27) more than last year.
Of course, visitors are offered family discounts and all kinds of discounts.
So, tickets for two adults and two children cost HUF 3500 (EUR 9,3). If you have two adults and three children, or more children, it costs HUF 3900 (EUR 10,4).
It was also revealed that
bistros have had to raise their prices due to the rise in raw material prices and higher wages.
According to one of the employees, the increase is about 20 percent this year, so a plate of fried chicken with rice is now HUF 4490 (EUR 12), while a fish and chips are HUF 4790 (EUR 12,8).
A scoop of ice-cream costs HUF 550 (EUR 1,4), but an ice-cream shop owner says this is not realistic either, as the price of raw materials has risen by 15-20 percent compared to last year. However, the market can only bear HUF 550-600 (EUR 1,4-1,6).
To sum up, with these prices, if a family of four drives from Sopron to Keszthely, they have to calculate the cost of travel, parking and the price of a family beach ticket. And if they have a pancake in the afternoon and a cooked meal for dinner, and buy ice cream, the total at the end of the day could be more than HUF 52 000 (EUR 139).
