On his Facebook page, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said on Sunday that he had offered Hungary’s help to flood-stricken Serbia.
“Our Serbian friends have been hit by severe flooding in recent days, the rain just would not stop. Therefore, today we had a telephone conversation with Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Sinisa Mali,
to whom I offered Hungary’s help, as unfortunately we have experience with this type of natural challenges.
“My Serbian colleague informed me that it finally stopped raining today, so they are taking stock of the situation, we are waiting for their report tomorrow, we are ready to help,” the Minister said in the post.
After days of torrential downpours caused severe flooding, authorities declared a state of emergency in many regions of Serbia on Friday. Due to heavy rains, a bridge collapsed and people had to be evacuated from their homes.
