442 cultural institutions across the country will offer more than 2,200 programs, including concerts, guided tours, and interactive events on June 24, Night of Museums, said Máté Vincze, Deputy State Secretary for Public Collections and Cultural Development of the Ministry of Culture and Innovation (KIM), at a press conference in Budapest on Tuesday.
There are cultural codes that connect us, and this is what the country’s most popular cultural event, Night of Museums, is becoming, with more than 300,000 people attending last year and organizers expecting a similar high turnout this year,” Máté Vincze said.
He added that the aim of the event is to raise interest in public collections and exhibitions among those who do not or rarely visit museums.
Vincze said that in 2023, the event will be promoted by Erika Miklósa, holder of the Order of St. Stephen of Hungary, Kossuth Prize and Liszt Ferenc Prize-winning opera singer and goodwill ambassador.

This year, the event will be based around the slogan “We are in the Trend” and will be held in Veszprém, where 13 institutions will be waiting for visitors. The institutions will be linked to the theme with almost 330 programs, he added.
Gyula Porga, mayor of Veszprém, said that in connection with the commemorative year of János Neumann, ten institutions will present the multifaceted work of the world-famous mathematician, who was born 120 years ago, through exciting programs.
In the European Capital of Culture, Veszprém, 13 institutions will offer more than 50 programs at 30 venues.
He pointed out that the exhibition on the work of expressionist painter, József Egry, will open on the Night of Museums in the renewed Laczkó Dezső Museum, and the House of Arts will also pay tribute to the painter. In addition, there will be programs at Digital Knowledge Center, Margaret Rocks, and the Foton Audiovisual Center, the mayor said.
Zsolt Bernert, Director General of the Hungarian Natural History Museum, which hosted the press event on Tuesday, said that
this year’s program will be even more colorful than last year’s, with the event focusing on the flora and fauna of Latin America.
The program will start at 4 p.m. at the museum, where visitors will be able to see eight exhibitions, a butterfly house with 600 butterflies, a live animal show, taste South American food, and listen to Latin music.

The Night of Museums program is available at www.muzej.hu and a mobile app is also available.
In Budapest, the events and exhibitions of the Night of Museums can be visited with a uniform wristband, which can also be used to travel on BKK’s museum shuttles operated exclusively on this evening. The main organizer of the event is KIM.
