The multifunctional facility in the capital, which will also host four mega-concerts in July, this time will offer an eternal experience for more than 310,000 people, reports Világgazdaság.
Budapest is home to the largest, state-of-the-art multifunctional arena in Central Europe. With 67,155 seats and a six-hectare indoor area, Puskás Arena, built at a cost of more than HUF 190 billion (506 million euros), will be four years old this year, having been inaugurated in November 2019, with the Hungary-Uruguay national football team match.
Most people associate it with football, even though its predecessor, Népstadion, hosted dozens of national and international stars over the past 60 years, including Queen, The Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, U2, Omega, and the Three Tenors. However, construction work and the subsequent coronavirus epidemic meant that many foreign acts have been shunned over the past decade, even though AC/DC, Aerosmith, Beyoncé, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, and Guns n’ Roses would have filled a Hungarian stadium – but the 22,000-seat Groupama Arena, which was at its peak at the time, is rather small for the biggest international acts (although it was big enough for Robbie Williams and Depeche Mode).
This year, there are already plenty of treats to be had, with Rammstein, Guns N’ Roses, and Depeche Mode all playing at Puskás in July, with a full house of 78,000 people.
András Süli, the program director of the Campus Festival in Debrecen and a member of the Music Hungary board, told Világgazdaság earlier that ticket prices are expected to rise by 20-35 percent this year, but there are some Hungarian festivals, for example, that are offering their season tickets at 57.5 percent higher than this time last year. The most expensive tickets for the Guns N’ Roses concert on July 19, for example, are over 415,000 forints (1,100 euros).
With the opening of Puskás Arena, Hungary is among the top of world’s mega-concerts, although it should not be overlooked that we have also recently built several other stadiums that can host world stars.
