The 20 candidates who will compete for the title of Miss World Hungary this year were presented in Budapest on Tuesday. The final of the competition will broadcast on Duna TV on June 11, where it will be decided who will represent Hungary at the international Miss World finals.
Sixteen candidates from the preparation camp will take part in the gala show, which returns with several innovations after a short break due to the COVID pandemic. Barbara Somossy and Gergely Csitári, the two hosts of the contest, explained at the presentation that the winner will be allowed to wear the title of Miss World Hungary for one year and will also be the face of the Pest County Research and Rescue Service as part of her charity work.
The final of Miss World Hungary has been broadcast on public media since 2014. This year, the national final will be broadcast live on June 11, starting at 7:45 pm.
According to the votes by the jury, which includes the contest directors Cecília Rogán, Kata Sarka, and Róbert Kárász, creative director of Duna Médiaszolgáltató, the candidate with the highest score will win the title of Miss World Hungary and the opportunity to participate in the international final.
The joint preparations have already started, the candidates have participated in photo shoots and filming, and will soon leave for the two-week training camp.
Four of the twenty candidates will be eliminated during the pre-competitions of the camp, while sixteen will be on the catwalk during the live broadcast. The day before the finale, on June 10 at 7:40 p.m., a background program about their preparations will be broadcast under the title The Way of the Queens.
According to MTI, this year the contestants will walk the runway in sportswear rather than bikinis. A new element of the creative tour will be the Queen’s Tour, where the finalists of the last seven years will return and reminisce about the competitions of previous years.
Two former queens, 2017 winner Virág Koroknyai and Miss World Hungary 2019 Krisztina Nagypál, will regularly check in on social media platforms as the official faces of the competition, reporting on behind-the-scenes preparations and events.
This year, there will also be an audience award, and viewers will be able to vote for the candidate they think is the most beautiful by calling a basic rate phone number, as well as from abroad.
The motto of the worldwide competition is “Beauty with purpose.” Therefore, one of the most important tasks of Miss World Hungary remains to raise awareness of the importance of social responsibility. The prospective winner must support a charitable cause that is promoted at home and abroad.
