Veszprém to Host Hungarian Film Festival in June

MTI-Hungary Today 2023.04.28.

The Hungarian Motion Picture Festival will present nearly 100 titles, premieres, roundtable discussions and meet-the-audience events in Veszprém, this year’s European Capital of Culture (ECC), and two other cities in western Hungary from June 7 to 10, organizers said on Thursday.

The festival’s events will contribute to the implementation of the ECC season’s goal of turning the Veszprem region into a hub of cultural and creative industries, Tibor Navracsics, Minister of Regional Development, said at a press conference.

The festival is an excellent tool for community building, as it provides an opportunity for filmmakers, cinema lovers and those interested in the industry to meet,”

he said.

Csaba Káel, Government Commissioner for the Development of the Hungarian Film Industry, said that the festival will show a rich selection of the latest new Hungarian films.

Attila Csáky, the festival’s director, said the event will open with the screening of the newly released documentary about the legendary Hungarian Olympic men’s water polo team. The festival competition will award prizes in seven categories. The head of the jury is the renowned director Lajos Koltai.
