It is mainly the capital of Hungary that is home to a number of international luxury hotel chains. The reason for this is that those who pay for these hotels mainly visit the capital, and last but not least, Budapest has attractions, sights, gastronomic experiences, and luxury shops that may interest wealthy foreign tourists. To cater to foreigners, new hotels, which will also be part of international luxury hotel chains, will soon open in Budapest, further raising the capital’s profile, reports We Love Budapest.

The article points out that Budapest has essentially only two rivals in the region on this front: Vienna and Prague, but the hotels opening in the Hungarian capital could soon be the envy of its neighbors.

The Klotild Palota St. Regis Budapest will soon open in the central part of the capital, in the Klotild Palace, once home to the Budapest hotel of the Buddha Bar chain. The St. Regis is one of the world’s most exclusive hotel chains and a luxury brand of Marriott International. The hotel, which will open on 12,000 square meters in Ferenciek tere, is owned by the Qatari Ali Bin Ali Group. It is worth noting that St. Regis currently only has six hotels in Europe, so the Budapest installation joins a prestigious group of hotels.

An interesting addition is that Klotild Palace has its twin building on the opposite side of the road, Matild Palace. They are the exact image of each other, and a luxury hotel has already opened in the other building called Matild Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel. The Spago Restaurant can also be found in the building, opened by world-renowned Austrian-American chef Wolfgang Puck, who has been the chef at the Oscars for 27 years.

W Hotels, also a luxury brand of Marriott International, is scheduled to open its first Central European hotel in Budapest this year called W Budapest Hotel. The location will be the Drechsler Palace on Andrássy Avenue, better known as the former Ballet School, which is also special because it is directly across from the State Opera House. The panoramic neo-renaissance building will house 151 rooms and one suite. The location is significant, because Andrássy Avenue is lined with spectacular neo-renaissance mansions and townhouses featuring fine facades and interiors, and was even recognized as a World Heritage Site in 2002. It is also one of Budapest’s main shopping streets, with fine cafes, restaurants, theaters, embassies, and luxury boutiques.

The Marriott Group seems to see great potential in the Hungarian capital, as it is also developing a third unit in Budapest. The Dorothea Hotel will be part of the Autograph Collection, a group of independent upper-upscale to luxury hotels of Marriott International, brought to Hungary by the BDPST Group. The five-star hotel will open this year in a complete house block on Dorottya Street at the center of Budapest, and the owners have commissioned world-renowned Milanese architect Piero Lissoni to design the interior. The hotel will include an enclosed courtyard covered by a glass roof, creating an internal garden that will be green all year round.

The Radetzky barracks on Bem József Square on the Buda quay is still under renovation, but will soon be home to a Kimpton Hotel, part of the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG Hotels & Resorts) hotel chain. Scheduled to open in 2024, the hotel will have 127 rooms, a fine dining restaurant, and a rooftop bar. The Budapest installation will be the eighth Kimpton Hotel in Europe, and will be special because the owners have commissioned world-renowned designer Marcel Wanders to design the interior. Dutchman Wanders is the co-founder of the Moooi brand, and his most famous work is the Doha unit of the Mondrian chain.

As we can see, the hotel industry is flourishing in the Hungarian capital, and as a result, tourism is also on an upward scale. With the arrival of these new luxury hotel brands, Budapest will be even more attractive to tourists, ultimately strengthening the country’s image on the international scene.
