“Criticizing George Soros is not anti-Semitism,” Israeli columnist, radio host, and political influencer Yair Netanyahu said at the MCC Conference on the Future of Publishing in Budapest on Thursday.
During a panel discussion, the issue of Hungary being labeled anti-Semitic because of posters linking Hungarian-born US financier George Soros to illegal migration was raised. In response, the son of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that criticizing Soros was not anti-Semitism, because the billionaire was causing very serious damage to Israel, “the only Jewish state.” For example, by funding anti-Jewish, anti-Zionist, and pro-Palestinian NGOs that are destroying Israeli society from within, he explained.
According to Yair Netanyahu, in the Western world, “especially in Israel,” there is a predominance of left-wing media, while a large part of the Jewish state’s population, for example, is conservative, and there is a demand for right-wing content.

Referring to his own career, he said that the left can be “very cruel” and demonizes those who express conservative views. Netanyahu added that his views are based on solid foundations, has honestly shared them with his readers and listeners, and as a result, has gained a growing following.
Netanyahu also believes that social media is not fully democratic, as the largest platforms are in the hands of a few owners. He said that the “most radical, craziest” left-wing ideas – including that countries do not need borders – are becoming mainstream, while opposing ideas held by the majority are being labeled extremist.
According to the influencer, in 2023, left and right will not be about socialism and capitalism, but rather about interconnected global elites in each country and local ordinary people and workers who represent the interests of their own country. “The right represents real democracy,” he said.
