Hungarians are fondly remembering legendary Italian actress, photographer, and sculptor Gina Lollobrigida, who has died at the age of 95.
The Hungarian press republished the footage of Gina Lollobrigida on Hungarian television. The Italian actress made her first appearance in Hungary exactly fifty years ago, on the 1972 New Year’s Eve show.
She also danced with two well-known Hungarian presenters, Tamás Vitray and Imre Antal.
Vitray said a few years ago that the world-famous star had come behind the Iron Curtain because an album of her photographs had been published in Hungary.
Gina Lollobrigida also came to Hungary in 1993, appearing on Sándor Friderikusz’s popular talk show. On the show, she talked about how she sewed the beads on her 1972 dress herself – sewing, she says, is a great stress reliever. On cosmetic surgery, which became increasingly popular in the 1990s, she said: “If I were a friend of these young girls, I would advise them to have their brains injected instead.”
