Hungary also expressed solidarity with Ukraine at the international donor conference held in Paris on Tuesday, Péter Sztáray, State Secretary for Security Policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade told MTI.
The package of assistance Hungary has been providing to Ukraine since the beginning of the war is very diversified, he said, recalling the areas in which Hungary has provided assistance so far and plans to continue contributing to in order to maintain the functioning of Ukraine, alleviating humanitarian difficulties, providing laptops for schoolchildren, and ensuring energy supplies.
The state secretary also mentioned that Hungary is also hosting injured soldiers and providing camps for children in Ukraine, as well as receiving and caring for incoming refugees. He added that Hungary is also involved in a project to supply 10,000 tons of grain to Africa, worth 3.5 million dollars.
Sztáray welcomed the decision made the previous day on the 18 billion euros EU aid, of which Hungary is a part.
He indicated that part of the amount should be used to strengthen the institutional framework in Ukraine and to improve the rule of law. In this context, he stressed the protection of the rights of the Hungarian minority living in Ukraine.
