Hungarian oil and gas company MOL opened its new headquarters, the MOL Campus, Hungary’s tallest building, in the Kopászi-gát area of south Budapest, Hungarian news agency MTI reports.
MOL President and CEO Zsolt Hernádi announced at the opening event that 2,500 people will be working in the building to ensure the company’s growth with the further aim of securing Hungary’s energy supplies.
According to Hernádi, MOL is the first flagship company in Hungary that has been successful abroad. Today, it is a leading industrial company in the region, and the MOL Group is present in 21 countries around the world.
The building was designed by FintaStudio, the Hungarian partner of Foster and Partners, and the interior design was created by Kinzo and the Minusplus planning and design office, he added. Construction was carried out by Market Építő.
Director in charge of consumer services, Péter Ratatics, noted the building is 143m high, with total floor space of 86,000sqm.
According to MOL’s statement, thanks to innovative solutions such as the 900 square meters of solar panels on the building and the geothermal cooling and heating system, the Campus meets the most stringent sustainability requirements.
In 2020, the construction project was valued at HUF 45 bn, but the final bill is likely significantly higher.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán visited the MOL Campus on Thursday.
