The Royal Box of the Hungarian State Opera House, reserved for the head of state, was opened to families on Saturday.
The decision – which is of unlimited duration – comes from President Katalin Novák, who is committed to supporting families, and her initiative is aimed at ensuring that as many Hungarian families as possible can enjoy the Opera House’s colorful, high-quality performances, the Opera informed Hungarian news agency MTI.
Families arriving at the invitation of the Single Parents’ Center (Egyszülős Központ) on Saturday watched The Nutcracker from the six-seater box on the first floor. Through domestic family organizations, matinee performances are the first to be offered to families who have less access to a theater or other cultural experiences.
On Sunday, Katalin Novák’s office published a call for decorations for the Christmas tree of the Sándor Palace, which will be located in the Buda Castle, on Szent György Square.
According to the post, the President invites Hungarians to decorate the Christmas tree together.
