Hungarian President Katalin Novák welcomed residents of the Saint Michael Children’s Home from the village of Rát (Rativci, Transcarpathia, Ukraine) to her office, the Sándor Palace on Tuesday.
“This year’s Christmas market and charity campaign – organized in cooperation with family organizations – is for them,” she wrote on Facebook.
The children and their foster parents took the cable car to the Castle District, watched the changing of the guard together with the president, then had a snack and a chat.
“I could tell from the smiles that the afternoon we spent together helped them to recharge a little, and gave them and their foster parents some strength in these particularly difficult times,” Katalin Novák wrote.
