Inclusive Spaces (Befogadó terek) is a project that Amnesty International Hungary and some of Hungary’s best-known LGBTQ organizations, such as Budapest Pride and the Háttér Society, have joined forces to develop. According to the description, the program provides knowledge and tools for employees and employers to recognize types of discrimination, their own role in the systemic oppression of gender and sexual minorities, and what they can do about it, Magyar Nemzet reports.
According to the information provided by Amnesty International Hungary, which is linked to funding from Hungarian billionaire George Soros and the Open Society Foundations, the training is 270 minutes long and consists of several modules. Among other things, the participants will learn about the terminology surrounding gender and sexual minorities, and discuss violations affecting LGBTQ people.
In addition, during one of the modules,
participants will recognize their own role in the oppression of gender and sexual minorities, and identify discriminatory language and microaggressions affecting the community.
Finally, they will learn the basics of assertive communication to speak up for their own and others’ rights.
The training will also help employees and employers take active steps to improve the situation of gender and sexual minorities in the workplace.
Magyar Nemzet wanted to know which companies and enterprises will take part in the training, which starts this month, but Amnesty International Hungary did not provide an answer. Instead, they wrote in their response that the Hungarian government should ensure a non-discriminatory school and work environment for all. However, according to them, the government is not only failing in this duty, but is even inciting hatred against these minorities.
The Inclusive Spaces program is not only aimed at adults, it has already been introduced in many schools.
The above-mentioned organizations with a strong political backing have even received money from the European Union and private donations, which they say has already enabled them to reach more than 500 students.
In recent years, several programs for raising awareness, stories, films, and characters linked to the LGBTQ ideology appeared in Hungary. Recently, a famous children cartoon, Peppa Pig was criticized for introducing homosexual characters. It is important to note that Peppa Pig is mostly watched by pre-school and nursery children all over the world.
