New Record: Almost 1.5 Million People Watched the Fireworks Display in Budapest

The most watched event of the year so far was the live broadcast of the fireworks and light painting in Hungarian public media and the domestic television market. The fireworks were postponed for a week due to forecasts for bad weather that eventually proved to be incorrect.

This year, the fireworks display celebrating the founding of the Hungarian state in Budapest was also attended by a large crowd. The coverage was the most watched event of the year so far, not only on the Danube and throughout the public media, but also on all TV channels.

The live broadcast of the fireworks and light painting was watched by 1.357 million viewers for at least one minute this year, and during peak time at 9:25 p.m., nearly 1.1 million viewers watched.
Many people also followed the action live on the public media’s online platforms, with around 45,000 videos launched. Meanwhile, more than 24,000 people watched the coverage of the fireworks on the public broadcaster’s website, Médiaklikk.hu.
