If it is because of his love of Hungarian culture or of his dedication to Hungary’s poetry, Iain Lindsay was very popular as the United Kingdom’s (UK) ambassador in Hungary. Due to his activity on social media, he is still present in peoples’ minds, and just recently surprised his followers with a delightful performance of a beautiful Hungarian poem on the occasion of Poetry Day in April.
Lindsay is currently residing in the Persian Gulf in the small island country of Bahrein, but will return to Hungary as a host at the Brain Bar futuristic festival. The event allows its visitors to discuss 21st-century issues with scientists, politicians, and business people, as well as cultural figures. The association also produces a number of educational podcasts and videos.
For students and teachers, the registration is free, which the former ambassador believes is really important to be able to “keep an open mind to new ideas and not be afraid to ask questions.” According to the organizers he has always been an admirer of Brain Bar and has visited the festival several times during his stay in Hungary.
Lindsay revealed that he is especially looking forward to discovering The House of Hungarian Music (A Magyar Zene Háza), serving as the location for the festival this year, which he has heard a lot about, but has not yet managed to visit.
Due to his work as an ambassador, he is constantly trying to stimulate dialogue between countries, and therefore really appreciates Brain Bar’s work and the vulnerable conversations that they inspire.
So, to the delight of many, Iain Lindsay will return to Hungary in September to share his thoughts on stage and maybe to amaze the audience with another one of his popular Hungarian poetry recitals.
