In a video message uploaded to his social media page, Orbán said that at the meeting of EU leaders in Brussels on Thursday, the war in Ukraine would be put on the table and that the next day “we will discuss in detail the economic situation in Europe, which is hardly rosy.”
The Hungarian prime minister said that “Europe is suffering.”
“It is suffering from wartime inflation and a wartime economic crisis,”
Orbán explained.
He blamed the EU for proposing further successive sanctions and bringing about economic woes on top of the war. The sanctions, along with the war, are the root cause of the economic problems, the prime minister said.
“What we now need is peace, not further sanctions, because peace is the only antidote to war inflation,” Orbán stressed.
The Hungarian Prime Minister also noted he held talks with the leaders of Western Balkan countries in the morning.
