For a week, Hungary will receive less Russian gas than agreed, but the country will be able to make up the difference from elsewhere, Világgazdaság (VG.hu) reports.
As we have reported before, the Russian energy giant Gazprom will stop gas supplies on the TurkStream pipeline for a week as of June 21st. Since September of last year, Hungary has been receiving a significant part of Russian gas imports from this route after the two countries agreed to use it to replace most of the former Ukrainian transit. As VG writes:
According to the information provided by the Serbian system operator of the Serbian-Hungarian supply border point (Gastrans), due to planned maintenance, the capacities of the Serbian-Hungarian interconnector will be limited between June 21 and June 28, 2022, and during this period it will not be possible to transport natural gas from Serbia to Hungary,”
FGSZ Földgázszállító Zrt. replied to the website’s inquiry about the details of the maintenance. The company said that the maintenance decision was made in December last year.
Due to maintenance work, 10.6 million cubic meters of Russian gas per day will be delivered to Hungary instead of the expected 12 million cubic meters per day,”
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said on Facebook after a telephone conversation with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, who is in charge of energy affairs. He said that the 88 percent completion rate is manageable, the missing volume can be obtained from anywhere, but Gazprom will make up for the volume not sent during the work once the maintenance is completed.
