After two years, the Hortobágy Equestrian Days are returning again on July 15-17. In a nutshell, Equestrian Days show life with horses, embracing professional and amateur horsemen, and horse-loving adults and children alike.
Over recent decades, the Hortobágy Equestrian Days has grown into the region’s most influential event, known even beyond the country’s borders. The event’s main aim is the presentation and popularization of the past and present of the pastoral culture characteristic of the area, the horse breeding activity of the Máta Stud, and fine Hungarian gastronomy, according to their website.
Almost 1,000 horses, 600 competitors, 400 folk dancers, and 60 craftsmen and artisans will show their skills,”
said László Papp, Mayor of Debrecen, at the event’s press conference.
In addition to the horse shows and competitions lasting several days, events providing worthwhile entertainment, folk art demonstrations, displays showcasing the typical elements of the Hortobágy pastoral culture, as well as a broad range of popular music concerts ensure that all visitors find their favorite pastime.
