The course record for the Ultrabalaton is held by Zoltán Csécsei with 17 hours and 54 minutes. Several ultra runners are preparing to break the record, including the Spartathlon winner Tamás Bódis, Gábor Drexler, the 130-time gold medalist of the Ultra Tisza Lake, and Tibor Erős, the national champion over 100 km. In addition to individual runners, teams of 2-13 runners can also complete the course. Zoltán Csécsei contracted bacterial pneumonia in the final stage of preparation, but will still be at the start and lead the individual runners.
The competition remains environmentally friendly. At more than 50 locations, no plastic cups will be used for refreshments and trash will also be collected selectively.
