The record for the highest daily temperature variation ever measured in Hungary was 30.7 degrees, measured on February 18, 1956, by the National Meteorological Service in Szamosangyalos.
According to data from the National Meteorological Service, this record was broken today. Although Szécsény was neither the warmest nor the coldest place in the country on Thursday, the difference between the two daily highs was 31.1 degrees, which could be a new absolute record.
According to the OMSZ, the lowest temperature in Szécsény was -7.5 degrees in the morning and reached 23.6 degrees in the afternoon. These high daily temperature fluctuations are due to the extremely dry air that prevails in the region.
But after months of drought, rain could finally return next week.
