Hungarian station RTL Klub will air the series that made Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine’s president, famous in his country – before he became the leader of it. The series is entitled Servant of the People.
In Hungary, RTL Klub is the first to broadcast the three-season Ukrainian comedy series, Servant of the People. After the planned premiere on March 20th, the first season of the series will be shown every Sunday at 6:50 pm with double episodes.
Zelenskyy’s political party, founded in 2018, also shares the same name as his most popular series. Encouraged by the success of Servant of the People, Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced his intention to run for president in the 2019 Ukrainian presidential election, which he won by a large majority.
RTL Klub will donate an estimated €50,000 of the estimated commission from the sale of the broadcasting rights to the Ukrainian Red Cross charity. By purchasing the rights to the series, RTL Hungary will not only contribute to this donation, but will also further donate HUF 30 million (almost 80,000 euros) to the Ecumenical Relief Organization to help the victims of the Ukrainian crisis.
