The grandfather wanted to motivate his granddaughter to graduate from high school, and therefore decided to study for the history exam with her. He succeeded so well that the 71-year-old also passed the final exam in the spring of 2021. He also wanted to distract himself from the fact that he had been diagnosed with cancer eight years ago. At that time, doctors gave him only three months to live. However, eight years have passed since then.
Although it did not turn out whether he passed other subjects besides history that he chose at an elevated level, he earned a total of 322 points.
When my family found out what I was going to do, they were stunned. They didn’t believe I was serious about the exam. Apparently, I don’t have cancer in my body now, although I am still waiting for the results of an examination. I have compensated for the illness by studying,”
the pensioner told the news site of Tolna county.
A teacher at the granddaughter’s school revealed that he has had several high school graduates over the age 50, yet no one over 40 has ever taken an advanced level exam. He added that Kovács’s brain probably just works differently than that of an 18-year-old, as he also recognizes such connections which someone at such a young age is not capable of.
