After the European Medicines Agency (EMA) announced its approval of Pfizer’s vaccine for children between the ages of 5 and 11, the website for the vaccination registration opened. On December 14, the first shipment of vaccines, with a total of 138,000 doses from Pfizer arrived in Hungary. Children will be vaccinated at designated vaccination points at hospitals and pediatricians’ offices.
Currently, about 50-60 children are being treated in Hungary’s hospitals for coronavirus infection, the chief medical officer said, noting that the number of serious cases, including complications, is not high but can occur.
When children get vaccinated, they not only protect their own health, but the health of their communities, especially family members, Cecília Müller explained in a video.
So far, 38,000 people have registered their children on the official vaccination registration website, and 16,000 have booked appointments for their children to be vaccinated across the country.
