Defender Szalai’s Transfer to Chelsea ‘Done Deal,’ According to National Team Coach Rossi

Hungary Today 2021.12.08.

Defender Attila Szalai’s transfer to football giant FC Chelsea is a “done deal,” the head coach of the Hungarian national team, Marco Rossi, told Calciometro.com in an interview.

It has been rumored for weeks that the talented defender could be taking a huge step in his career, and might sign with Champions League title-holder FC Chelsea. The 23-year-old only moved to Turkish star club Fenerbahce early this year after playing for Cypriot Apollon Limassol, but his outstanding performances have reportedly caught the eye of the biggest Europen teams, with Chelsea’s interest being the most serious. According to speculation, Chelsea will sign him for a record sum.

Although the center-back’s form was not the best in recent weeks, the words of the head coach have given new impetus to the topic.

When asked about which Hungarian could be suitable for playing in Serie A, the Italian coach named Attila Szalai, adding that “but his move to Chelsea is a done deal.”

However, it seems it is far from being a “done deal.” Fenerbahce was quick to release a statement, in which they refuted that the transfer would be imminent.

“The reports circulating in the foreign press in recent days that our player, Attila Szalai, is moving to another team does not reflect reality. Our club has not negotiated this matter and our defender is focused on achieving our goals.”
