Farm Minister Asks for Easing Austrian-Hungarian Border Crossing

MTI-Hungary Today 2021.11.13.

Minister of Agriculture István Nagy has asked the governor of Austria’s Burgenland province to ease the conditions of crossing the border between Austria and Hungary.

István Nagy said in a video posted on Facebook on Saturday that he asked Hans Peter Doskozil in a letter that Hungarian workers who are fully vaccinated and have high antibody levels should be allowed to freely enter Austria. Austria has recently changed entry rules for Hungarian workers, which makes it more difficult – in certain cases impossible – for Hungarian citizens to cross the border.

The new measures also make it harder for people who are fully inoculated and have high antibody levels to cross the border, Nagy said. Flexible border crossing of fully vaccinated Hungarian workers is in the interests not only of Hungary and Hungarian workers but also Austria and Austrian citizens, he said. The minister said he is confident that the leadership of the province will respond positively to his request without delay.
