Another group of Afghan refugees who aided Hungarian forces in the war against the Taliban has been evacuated from Kabul and brought to Hungary. The government will not be granting the 114 adults and 126 children automatic asylum, all individuals and families will first need to pass the immigration offices of Röszke and Tompa.
The Interior ministry has announced that the National Directorate-General for Aliens Policing will be overseeing the entry of displaced Afghans who are escaping Kabul after the Taliban takeover. Those who have been brought to Hungary along with their families aided Hungarian forces and its allies in Afghanistan.
According to the announcement, among the 240 refugees are a woman in a wheelchair and a man who has suffered a gunshot wound. The Hungarian state will be placing them all into quarantine and will take care of all their provisions.
As their vehicle convoy from Ferenc Liszt Airport arrives at the transit zones, the Ministry says, refugees will be given food and hygiene packages, they will all be checked by doctors, and provided adequate clothing for the weather. Background checks will also be conducted.
The previous plane to arrive to Hungary from Afghanistan brought 96 refugees with similar backgrounds, who must also get through the immigration offices of the Hungarian border if they wish to enter Hungary.
