The Cassiopeia Merlot 2015 from Jammertal Wine Estate Villány in southern Hungary received the highest score in the international wine competition Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2021 (CMB) in the red wine overall category, and was awarded the prestigious ‘Grand Gold Medal Revelation Red Wine’ prize.
The Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2021, organized since 1994 and held in Luxemburg this year, is one of the world’s most prestigious wine competitions. The CMB, which took place from June 17-27, saw 300 judges evaluate nearly 10,000 entries over nine days.
This year, out of about seven and a half thousand samples, the highest score in the red wine overall category was received by the Cassiopeia Merlot 2015 from Jammertal Wine Estate Villány. The exceptional red was awarded the ‘Grand Gold Medal Revelation Red Wine.’
This recognition is particularly notable as it is the first time in the history of the competition that a Hungarian red wine has received this award in such a broad category.
The primary objective of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles is to provide consumers the guarantee that they are offered wines of impeccable quality that deliver a truly outstanding drink experience.
The Jammertal Wine Estate, which cultivates 85 hectares of vineyards in the Villány Wine Region and produces 550-600,000 bottles a year, revealed that they are expecting an upswing after the pandemic, in which they want to expand their customer base with more knowledgable consumers. In addition, they also aim to enter the German-speaking and Scandinavian markets.
