The government is preparing to arrange a “more monumental than ever”, four-day long program to celebrate Hungary’s August 20 national holiday this year, the state secretary for international communications and relations said on Facebook on Tuesday.
“On this day we commemorate a history of over 1,000 years, which is worth celebrating with several-day long festivities,” Zoltán Kovács said.
The state secretary said Hungary’s defeat of the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic meant that “the old life we are accustomed to can return”, adding that the body in charge of the festivities had already started making preparations.
