Seiko Hashimoto, President of the Organizing Committee of the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo and a former speed skater and track cyclist, visited the Hungarian Cultural Institute in Tokyo to see the exhibition on Hungarian sports successes at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics.
The former Olympian was guided through the exhibition by Norbert Palanovics, Hungary’s ambassador to Japan.

The President, who was appointed to lead the Organising Committee in February 2021, has herself represented the island nation at a total of seven Olympic Games before.
It is with great delight that Seiko Hashimoto remembers her past visits to Hungary as an athlete. The President also signed a fan plaque, signed by Japanese people who love Hungary and Hungarians living in Japan, which the Hungarian Embassy will deliver to the Hungarian team at the Olympic Village.
Following the exhibition, the photographs of the 1964 Olympics on display will also be placed in the Olympic Village, decorating the walls of the Hungarian team’s rooms.
