More Than 4,000 Kayak Across the Balaton

Hungary Today 2021.07.12.

Approximately 4,051 people took to their paddles and kayaked across lake Balaton on Saturday. Competitors had to row eight kilometers in total from Zamárdi to Tihany and back.

The more than 4,000 participants made up some 2,056 various boats in total. The competition started off from Zamárdi’s free public beach, a new location after the usual one in Fonyód proved to be too small already.

The distance could be paddled in a kayak, canoe, dragon boat, or SUP with the competition’s time limit set to two hours.
