On December 26, the Sípark Mátraszentistván (northern Hungary) will open its doors for the 2024/25 season, marking the start of the winter holiday festivities for families looking to enjoy a skiing getaway at home. The resort will welcome guests daily throughout the winter break, with the possibility of evening skiing depending on weather conditions. Although the recent warm weather has delayed the return of winter, forecasts suggest that cold weather will soon return, ensuring a snowy Christmas for visitors.
The resort, preparing for the season by producing artificial snow, is ready to kick off operations, though the exact number of open slopes and lifts will depend on the weather, writes Turizmus.com. Ski enthusiasts are encouraged to check the Sípark Mátraszentistván’s website and Facebook page for updates on available services and ski conditions.
One of the best aspects for families this year is the freeze on ski pass prices.
Prices will remain at the same levels as two years ago, providing affordable access to the slopes. There are also discounts available for children, students, large families, and seniors over 62, in addition to the continued acceptance of SZÉP cards (popular fringe benefit). For those looking to save before the season kicks off, a 10% discount is being offered for pre-purchase ski pass vouchers available on the resort’s website.
The park, celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2024, has become a popular destination for Hungarian skiers.
Located in the heart of the Upper Mátra, the ski park features nine ski lifts, including Hungary’s only newly built four-seater lift, offering access to four kilometers of slopes.
In addition to skiing and snowboarding, the resort offers a variety of services, including equipment rentals, ski and snowboard lessons with qualified instructors, and several dining options. Visitors can enjoy the alpine atmosphere at the Hóhatár hut, the Rönkbár, or the sun terrace.
With a focus on safety, sledging is not allowed in the park to prevent accidents. The ski area’s snowmaking capabilities, modern lifts, and family-friendly atmosphere make it one of the best-equipped ski resorts in Hungary, providing an ideal destination for those looking to enjoy a winter holiday close to home.
