177 Places to Offer Special Price Menus for National Restaurant Week

Hungary Today 2024.02.22.

Celebrating its 25th anniversary, Restaurant Week will run for longer than usual this year, reports Turizmus.com. Between March 7 and 24, 177 restaurants across the country will be offering fixed-price menus.

More than a decade ago, when DiningCity Restaurant Week was launched, only 26 restaurants took part, but last autumn, more than 160 restaurants joined the initiative. Moreover, attendance has increased almost eightfold since the first event, to more than 30,000 visitors last time, organizers pointed out.

More restaurants than ever before will be participating in this year’s event, with a total of 177 restaurants in Budapest and the countryside.

Among the participants are five Michelin-recommended restaurants in Budapest and two in the countryside: Costes Downtown, Flava Kitchen&More, Hoppá Bistro, Mák Restaurant, and Spago by Wolfgang Puck, as well as Lokal47 from Kéthely (western Hungary) and Macok Bistro from Eger (nothern Hungary).

This year’s spring offer is also very rich:

the new restaurants represent Indian, Thai, Japanese, Lebanese, Georgian, Mexican, French, and Italian cuisine, as well as Hungarian.

The carefully crafted menus are designed to appeal to diners with specialties such as fallow deer, wild boar, Angus beef, veal leg, lamb, duck liver and foie gras, pheasant, lobster, skate, monkfish, frog legs, octopus, squid, escargot, and truffles. The chefs also cater for gluten or lactose intolerant, carbohydrate avoidant, and vegan guests.

Those who book a table in one of the restaurants included in the program can have lunch or dinner at a friendly price: the price of three (in some restaurants four) courses is HUF 5,900, 7,900 or 9,900, (EUR 15, 20, 25) depending on the category chosen.
