Hollywood actor and two-time Grammy winner Will Smith gave a short concert last night on the square in front of St. Stephen’s Basilica to celebrate his 51st birthday and to promote his new film, Gemini Man, partly shot in Budapest. DJ Jazzy Jeff joined him on the stage and fireworks also boosted the mood.
Will Smith announced in a video posted on his official Facebook page last week that he was giving a concert at ‘Basilica Square’ (Szent István square in front of the St. Stephen’s Basilica) in Budapest on September 25th to celebrate his 51st birthday. At the concert, he performed some of his most famous songs, but it was more about celebrating- he even received a cake depicting him on the Chain Bridge:

The actor is in the Hungarian capital to promote his new movie, Gemini Man at the film’s premiere, as it was partly shot in the capital last year. In the film, Smith plays a professional assassin who is being chased by a clone, created 25 years ago.
As it was shot in Budapest, the film will feature several major sights of the Hungarian capital. Will Smith and film director Ang Lee as well as producers Jerry Bruckheimer and David Ellison returned to Budapest for the Hungarian premiere, which was held at the Buda Castle, attended by several celebrities.
Many Hungarian stars also took photos with Smith, and he also met his Hungarian voice, Artúr Kálid in Budapest. Will Smith had several Hungarian voices, but Kálid and Sándor Reisenbüchler had the opportunity to give their voices to the star most times. Reisenbüchler passed away in 2004, and Kálid commemorated him in his Facebook post:
Last year, during the filming of Gemini man, Will Smith arrived with his family to the Hungarian capital and got really friendly with fans. In addition, during the month he spent in Budapest, he uploaded several videos to his social media sites, for example a slow-motion video, filmed at the Chain Bridge on Father’s Day.
Probably his most famous act in the Hungarian capital was his video of climbing the Chain Bridge, one of the city’s most well-known landmarks, also visible from his hotel room, in order to join and probably win the “In My Feelings Challenge” set by Grammy-winning rapper Drake.
