Michael Ludwig, the Mayor of Vienna, congratulated Gergely Karácsony, the newly elected mayor of Budapest on his official Facebook page yesterday.  In his post, the SPÖ (social-democrat) politician wrote that he is looking forward to working together, as Budapest and Vienna have always been in close contact with each other, and together they can create a friendly, cross-border cooperation between the two cities.

Michael Ludwig congratulated the new Mayor of Budapest, Gergely Karácsony, on the election victory with a Facebook post, saying “Budapest has a new mayor! I congratulate Gergely Karácsony on the election and look forward to working together.”

Gergely Karácsony, the joint candidate of the left-liberal opposition parties, won the Budapest mayoral election on October 13th, this past Sunday on the local elections, following Fidesz-KDNP backed István Tarlós, who had been the mayor of the capital for the past nine years.
