The 27th Valley of Arts festival, held in three neighbouring villages just north of Lake Balaton, attracted around 200,000 visitors, the event’s program director said on Tuesday.
10 unforgettable days, more than 1200 programs, record number of visitors: the Valley of Arts Festival, the greatest art festival of Hungary, closed its gates for the 27th time. The secret of Hungary’s largest multi-art festival, the Valley of Arts, is in its liberated atmosphere and the series of cultural, musical, theatrical, and literary programs. In recent years, the festival has undergone a thorough „facelift“. In order to maintain its original values along with a fresh design, the festival program has also been expanded and the technical conditions of the stages, yards have been improved.
The ten-day event in Kapolcs, Taliandorogd and Vigantpetend offered various programmes at 67 venues in the fields of art and crafts, folk and jazz and exhibitions, while traditional Hungarian food and drinks were served throughout the festival, Natalia Oszko-Jakab told public news channel M1. This year, the festival awaited visitors with new attractions, including tents for contemporary circus and dance, as well as movies and children’s programmes hosted by the National Film Archives, she said.
Programme highlights included concerts by the French bands Deluxe and Nouvelle Vague, the US’s Pink Martini group joined by China Forbes as lead vocalist, as well as literary performances by Hungary’s Hobo and actor Aron Oze and concerts by Ganxsta Zolee and Veronika Harcsa.
According the program director, next year’s festival will be held between July 20-29.
