US Expands Scholarship Scheme to Hungarian Secondary School Students
Hungarian secondary school students can now apply for scholarship to spend an academic year in the United States to attend high school and live with American host families, the US embassy said.
The statement cited US Ambassador David B Cornstein stating that “… we are expanding the FLEX [Future Leaders Exchange] program to Hungary. This program is a fantastic opportunity for talented Hungarian high school students to study and live in the United States for one year.”
“The expansion of this important exchange program to Hungary is part of our commitment to building stronger connections between Hungarians and Americans,” he added.
A post on the US Embassy website shows that the application deadline for the 2019-2020 academic year is October 31. The scheme which is fully-funded by the United States government has provided scholarships to over 27,000 secondary school students from 20 different countries in the last 26 years. Currently, 922 students are studying in the US on the FLEX program, it said.
