The Budapest court of appeals sentenced two generals of the Hungarian military to two and three years of imprisonment, respectively, on charges of bribery in a binding ruling on Monday.
The court also stipulated seizure of the defendants’ assets worth 27 million forints (EUR 79.800) and 50 million forints, respectively.

Six defendants were handed suspended prison sentences in the case, in which altogether 17 suspects were believed to have demanded kickbacks from companies providing services to the military between 2002 and 2010. Four others have appealed to the supreme court against the appeals court decision.

In its Monday decision, the appeals court acquitted several defendants including former defence ministry state secretary László Fapál.
