BBC has asked recently 177 cinema experts from 36 different countries for voting for the best movies made worlwide since 2000. According to the poll, the best films of the last sixteen years were Mulholland Drive (directed by David Lynch in 2001), In the Mood for Love (Wong Kar-wai, 2000) and There Will Be Blood (Paul Thomas Anderson, 2007).
However, it is much more important for Hungarian movie fans that three films made by Hungarian directors also made the prestigous list. While Son of Saul (by László Nemes, 2015) reached the 37th position, Béla Tarr’s (and co-director Ágnes Hranitzky’s) Werckmeister Harmonies ( 2000) and The Turin Horse (2011) have been ranked 56th and 63th respectively.
