Terrorism: British Extremists Caught In Hungary Handed Back To UK Authorities – Video!

By Ferenc Sullivan // 2015.11.27.

Trevor Brooks and Simon Jonathan Keeler, the two British citizens caught in Hungary in mid-November who were prohibited from leaving the United Kingdom after being sentenced for supporting terrorist activities, have been handed back to British authorities at Budapest’s Liszt Ferenc International Airport by the Hungarian Counter-Terrorism Centre (TEK).

The two Muslim converts were stopped at the border station of Lőkösháza on board an international express train heading to the Romanian capital Bucharest after they failed to provide evidence of their citizenship or legal basis of staying in Hungary. In 2008 Brooks and Keeler were jailed for four and a half years after being convicted of inciting terrorism abroad and terrorist fundraising. The sentences were later reduced on appeal. Following their release, both men were made subject to travel restrictions which meant they had to seek permission to travel abroad.

After being stopped on the border, they were placed under arrest prior to deportation. In line with the simplified extradition procedure chosen by both of them, the two men had to be handed over to British authorities within ten days of being arrested.
