Hungary’s up-and-coming female tennis star Tímea Babos has surprised the world with her performance at the WTA tournament in Rome, Italy.
The 23-year-old Hungarian tennis player, who is 48th on world rankings, won the match against four-times Olympic Champion Venus Williams, who is 14th on world ranking list. “Look up, get up, but never give up”, says a tennis slogan that could be the catchphrase of Tímea Babos after the 11th of May 2016.
In the first set, the 36-year-old American won 6:7. In the second set, Mr. Babos took her revenge and reached 7:5. At the end of the gripping final set (6:4 to Babos), they finished the game with the victory of the Hungarian player.
After the match, tears run into the eyes of Tímea Babos because the victory was the perfect birthday present to her. “At the beginning of the match, it was really hard to forget who is on the other side of the net. To forget that is Venus Williams over there”, Tímea Babos said after the victory. “I am very happy, it is an incredible feeling. It was a good after-birthday gift to me”, she said, referring to having her birthday one day prior to the competition.
Well, Happy Birthday Tímea Babos! Keep on with the tennis rackets!
